Swon Brothers Bassist Creates Mountain Vista Music

Mat Maxwell, The Swon Brothers

We recently released a new Mountain Vista Video tour and didn’t want canned background music. It had to be special. Mat Maxwell, bassist for the Swon Brothers came to the rescue.

Mat has been a guest at Mountain Vista Cabin and had a great feel for what we wanted to convey in the video. Mat’s beautiful guitar work greatly enhanced our creative process. We’re thrilled our partnership with Mat, Kurt Boxdorfer of LegendMediaPros.com and voice artist Shellye Copeland produced outstanding results.

Mat had heard about Beavers Bend for years and enjoyed Mountain Vista and the Broken Bow Lake area.

“Beavers Bend was my father’s absolute favorite place to visit. He’d talk about what a gem it is to Oklahoma. So, needless to say, I had high-expectations for my first trip. It far exceeded those. The cabin and all of its amenities made for one of the most relaxing and fun experiences I can remember. Also, kudos to the town and park for hosting bands of all sizes and from everywhere! Cabin-build, trees, peace and quiet, wine shops…I could go on. In a word, ‘go!”

-Mat Maxwell

Swon Brothers Bassist Creates Mountain Vista Music

We’ve been fortunate to have a few friends in the music industry that have helped build our cabin brand through the years.

Mat helped take our Mountain Vista media to an entirely new level.

Word Of Mouth Results In Huge Break

“I’ve been with The Swon Brothers for about a year and a half. They hired me off of a word-of-mouth recommendation from their (at the time) bandleader Joe Henderson, and a couple of video submissions. I got the call in-between playing services at Life.Church in Tulsa. Definitely had a big smile on my face that last set! A day later it was off to Nashville and on to Allentown, PA. We’ve played all over this country and beyond. As part of Carrie Underwood’s “The Storyteller Tour” we visited a ton of arenas and had the chance to see some really great cities. Lotta fun for a goofball kid from Tishomingo. Honestly can’t say enough good things about the guys. They’re genuine, hard-working, and incredibly talented, and we’ve also become good friends. I’m very fortunate to be able to work for them. Just a bunch of Okies that want to play music and bring folks joy. Be sure to come catch us live when you can.”

-Mat Maxwell

Sherri and I are looking forward to seeing Mat and The Swon Brothers in concert soon. The Okie from Tishomingo has done very well!

Thanks Mat and congratulations on your tremendous success!

BBQ, Bass Fishing and Beavers Bend

BBQ, Bass Fishing and Beavers Bend

SpannMan’s BBQ in Antlers, OK has developed a huge following from our OKC guests traveling to Mountain Vista. We enjoyed his amazing cuisine last night during a picturesque evening in Beavers Bend.

SpannMan, a champion BBQ pit master, continues to create amazing food. We hosted a dinner event at Mountain Vista and our guests loved his world-class BBQ!

We’ll be fishing with pal Bryce Archey, this weekend. His BrokenBowLakeGuide.com service is the premier guide service on the lake. Hopefully we’ll have lots of pics to post in the next few days.

Bring On The Summer

Summer dates are beginning to fill at Mountain Vista. We feature acres of seclusion and a 50-mile view of the Kiamichi Mountains. You’ll never pay needless resort or insurance fees at our vacation home.

Do your homework before choosing a luxury cabin in Beavers Bend State Park. Scores are being built and many are very close together.

Follow us on Twitter and Instagram.

Enjoy the weekend and contact us at BeaversBendVacations.com to reserve your stay at Mountain Vista!

Watch Out For Beavers Bend Add-On Fees

You never have to pay Beavers Bend add-on fees for firewood, insurance, cleaning or hot tub usage at Mountain Vista cabin.

Our busy booking season has arrived. Oklahoma spring break is packed but we have a few openings for many Arkansas and Texas school districts.

President’s Day, February 20-22 is now available at Mountain Vista. This is always a popular date for those off work seeking a quick getaway.

Download our Beavers Bend app for a complete list of area activities.

The Broken Bow Lake Duck Tours will be open again in March. This highly popular tourist attraction offers great insight about Beavers Bend State Park. You’ll enjoy jaunting across the pristine water of Broken Bow Lake in this comfortable amphibious vessel.

Beavers Bend add-on fees

Sherri and I along with our very spoiled Grand Champion Brussels Griffon just returned from a week in Southern California. The weather was actually warmer in Oklahoma during the duration of our stay than at Newport Beach.

Mountain Vista features stunning 20-miles views and acres of seclusion in the upscale Southern Hills Addition near Beavers Bend State Park.  The cabin has been featured in Oklahoma’s centennial celebration book and lauded by TravelOK as “A Place To Stay In Oklahoma.”

Unlike many cabins in Broken Bow, you deal directly with us, the owners, rather than a large management company.

I’ve noticed a dramatic surge in rental property interest in the past couple of months. If you’re considering purchasing or building a cabin in Beavers Bend and need consultation, let me know.  I’ve written numerous articles you can find online about how to market luxury properties.

We’re considering adding and marketing cabins on our website, social media outlets and app. Ask yourself if you’d like your cabin marketed by a company already overseeing 30-70 other cabins.

How will you receive individualized media attention while competing with scores of cabins on a website?

Contact us to reserve your stay at our Mountain Vista vacation home.

Mitchell Talks Appearance

Mitchell Talks Appearance

Scott Mitchell, Kandyce Mitchell & Jerry Isbell

I enjoyed my appearance on Mitchell Talks in OKC.

We taped this podcast and discussed Broken Bow Lake, fall foliage and Beavers Bend State Park. Scott (@MitchellTalks) and Kandyce (@KandyceMitchell) have been highly visible in the Oklahoma City media market for years.

Scott and Kandyce provided tremendous hospitality in their beautiful studio…tremendous people.

As a political junkie, I’ve enjoyed watching Scott on KWTV and listening to his radio show for years.

I’m was on-air with Kandyce and Andy Moore (@andyokc). I love the podcast format. It’s a relaxed medium with no time limits or commercials. It’s simply coffeeshop conversation.

We discussed tourism in Beavers Bend State Park and add-on fees you should avoid when choosing a rental property throughout the country.

Thanks to the gang at Mitchell Talks. Enjoy the podcast. I hope you learn something new about the Broken Bow Lake area.

August Fishing Report

August Fishing Report

Our favorite fishing guide, Bryce Archey, shared an August fishing report on his website.

Bryce is my personal guide and I’ll be on the water with for a couple of outings with him soon! He recently announced an August special and provides a great experience for novice to professional anglers.

There is a huge adrenaline rush seeing the bass pop out of the water while feeding on shad. It happens frequently during August and Bryce studies the lake like none other. He knows where to find the fish!

We have “Fish and Stay” packages available at Mountain Vista in conjunction with Bryce, owner of BrokenBowLake Guide.com.

Our August special gives you a free night! Arrive on the 21st or 28th and your fourth-night is on us!

Top 5 Beavers Bend Memorial Weekend Tips

Top 5 Beavers Bend Memorial Weekend Tips

Mountain Vista Luxury Cabin

My Top 5 Beavers Bend Memorial Weekend Tips will enhance your stay while visiting a cabin in Beavers Bend State Park.

  • Grab coffee and breakfast at Adam & Eve’s Coffee House. We love their freshly ground coffee’s and breakfast items…great sandwiches during lunch. If you forgot something from home while visiting a Beavers Bend cabin, they’ll probably have it.

  • Visit all the wineries in Beavers Bend. Broken Bow now has three and all are great places to sip a little vino. Girls Gone Wine, Vojai’s Winery and Fish Tales Winery and Vineyards. Many visit all three in a day. Each location is only minutes apart.

  • Meet Food Network Champion Chef, Tabb Singleton at his Moon Tower Bar and Grill. To say this globally renowned chef is popular is an understatement. Over 1-million people have read my piece on him since December.

  • Get on Broken Bow Lake in a boat. You can’t truly enjoy it until you’re on the water. Seeing the lake from a roadside or bank isn’t the way to experience Oklahoma’s most beautiful body of water.

  • Don’t drink and drive/speed. Beavers Bend will be packed during Memorial Weekend. Have patience and realize that filling up with gas and having your dinner served will be delayed with the large crowds. Law enforcement is always out in full-force during holidays near Broken Bow Lake cabins. Be smart and kind to one another.

Your cabin management companies will be stretched to the limit during this holiday weekend in Beavers Bend. I’ve written extensively for years about what you should be looking for before reserving a luxury cabin. Hopefully, you did extensive research and will be pleased upon arrival at your getaway.

Oklahoma City visitors traveling to Beavers Bend, checkout SpannMan’s BBQ in Antlers. The blue food truck on the main drag through town is one of my favorite eateries on earth. SpannMan is a champion BBQ chef and scores of Broken Bow Lake cabin visitors have enjoyed his cuisine for years. SpannMan has been featured multiple times in the Oklahoma Today Magazine.

I’m feeling generous…here’s a sixth tip; Ride the duck! The Broken Bow Lake Duck boat tour is one of the hottest tourist attractions in Beavers Bend State Park.

You won’t go wrong with any of my Top 5 Beavers Bend Memorial Weekend Tips. Enjoy the holiday and we invite you to visit Mountain Vista cabin in Broken Bow soon!

Broken Bow Lake Fishing Report

Broken Bow Lake Fishing Report

I enjoyed a nice fishing weekend on Broken Bow Lake. My family had one of the first boat slips on the lake when it opened decades ago. I’ve been fishing the lake since I was six-years old and the scenery still takes my breath away.

Broken Bow Lake Fishing Report

Broken Bow Lake Sunrise

Saturday we went after crappie and covered numerous creek channels and coves on Southeastern Oklahoma’s most pristine water. Broken Bow’s premiere fishing guide and pal, Bryce Archey, referred us to KD’s Guide Service. I grew up with KD and hadn’t seen him in years. It was great reconnecting and he delivered an awesome crappie fishing experience.

We were fishing at 15 feet with minnows and enjoyed lots of success. My buddy even landed a nice five-pound catfish about five minutes after his line was in the water. Once the sun began heating up around 11:00 a.m., the bites slowed considerably.

Broken Bow Lake Fishing

Bass were our prey for Sunday’s outing and Bryce referred to us to Jerry Walthall of 4 Seasons Guide Service. Jerry is a veteran angler on Broken Bow Lake and a joy to be with on the water. We enjoyed lots of laughs and several fishing lessons during the day with Jerry.

Broken Bow Lake is still elevated but the fishing is returning to normal after the torrential rainfall earlier this year. We were having luck with crankbaits and plastic worms near brush.

The North end of Broken Bow Lake is a popular area for serious anglers. There is much less recreational boating and skiing in this area to disrupt the water.

Broken Bow Lake Fishing Report

Broken Bow Lake Fishing Report

Fall is usually a fantastic time to enjoy a fishing outing on Broken bow Lake. Guides tell me October and November are two of the best angling months of the year.

October and November is also a great time to visit Mountain Vista cabin in Beavers Bend. Our 20-mile view is spectacular. The forest surrounding the cabin is breathtaking during the fall foliage season.

We do things very differently at Mountain Vista compared to many other cabins in Beavers Bend. We were the first to promote no add-on fees. Now, several others are doing the same. Many are not.

Resort fees coupled with cleaning and insurance charges can really ding your pocketbook when renting a cabin. Tack on another $50-$100 for firewood and s’mores and the cabin’s discounted price suddenly becomes much higher.

We never charge these fees at Mountain Vista. Our guests love the s’mores kits along with free firewood and luxury amenities.

Hopefully, I’ll have another Broken Bow Lake fishing report for you in the fall. I hope you will drop a line in Oklahoma’s most beautiful lake soon. Don’t forget to invite me to your fish fry!

Secluded Cabins In Broken Bow

Secluded Broken Bow Cabins

Mountain Vista

Secluded cabins in Broken Bow with tremendous views are becoming more difficult to find. The booming tourism industry in Beavers Bend has resulted in more cabins and smaller lots. They’re usually only an acre or less and another rental cabin is usually within eyeshot.

You won’t find many pictures like the one above on a website advertising luxury cabin rentals. They don’t want to show you another cabin a few feet away or a noisy, dusty road nearby.

There’s a difference between rental cabins and vacation homes in Beavers Bend State Park. Rental cabins tend to exaggerate maximum occupancy. Vacation homeowners want great visitors and minimal wear and tear on their property. We don’t want to cram you in and charge another $25 per-person.

Our vacation home, Mountain Vista, accommodates six adults and two children. You’ll see other cabins wanting to pack you in like sardines in order to make a buck. Sleeping bags, bunk beds and rollaway couches are the norm for many…not us.

If you’re shopping for good cabin deals, make sure to do the math. Don’t overlook add-on fees; they can tack on up to 20%. You won’t realize it until the final click or two when reserving online. Cleaning and insurance charges along with resort fees will pound your pocketbook into submission. We never charge extra fees and even the firewood is free! Others attempt to charge over $100 for a several day supply.

Secluded Cabins in Broken Bow

Acres of Seclusion

We’re having another stellar year at BeaversBendVacations.com. Only a handful of weekends remain open at Mountain Vista until after Thanksgiving. Sherri and I have enjoyed seeing a record number of repeat visitors this year. Several guests reserve our vacation home five to six times per-year!

There are scores of fantastic cabins in the Broken Bow Lake region. We sometimes get up to 20 emails or calls per-day requesting a Beavers Bend cabin recommendation. We have a few favorites and are happy to help you even if we’re already booked.

When looking for secluded cabins in Broken Bow, do your homework and get references. Checkout ours!  You don’t want any surprises.

I enjoy the feedback our blog receives. We were the first to blog in Beavers Bend and we have thousands of readers each month.

What are the best and worst experiences you’ve had renting luxury cabins in Broken Bow? Did you get hit with those pesky add-on charges? Did your cabin look completely different from the website pictures upon arrival?

Cabin owners…are you being hit with unnecessary fees from management companies? Is your cabin being marketed properly with professional video and media? We can help.

Send me a note. I’ll have a prize for the most amusing story!
