IMG_2003

Are you headed to a cabin at Broken Bow Lake and wondering what activities to take in during your adventure in Beavers Bend? Here’s a little Beavers Bend Cabin information, stopping by these great businesses will definitely enhance your stay in the Kiamichi Mountains. All are listed on our App under the “Attractions” section. Here’s a few of my favorites and each were approved by our Brussels Griffon show dog, Kula! He’s named after our favorite spot in Upcountry Maui.

Visit our friends at Bruton’s Outdoors in downtown Broken Bow. They feature great clothing selections including all the athletic shoes and boots you’ll ever need while visiting Mountain Vista in Beavers Bend. Bruton’s has a fantastic selection of guns, ammo and outdoor accessories. If you’re visiting from Dallas or Oklahoma City, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the outstanding selection. They offer small town customer service coupled with a “Big City” selection.

Are you a fan of museums? There’s a plethora of options available in which you can learn about the Choctaw Nation area while visiting McCurtain County. The Museaum of the Red River in Idabel is a convenient stop for Broken Bow Lake cabin visitors on their way up from Dallas. Upon arrival in Beavers Bend State Park, checkout the Forest Heritage Center. It’s a fabulous educational experience for children and adults and offers insights on how our wonderful area was formed.

Did you leave town and forget your favorite bottle of wine or six-pack of beer? Perhaps a new “Mountain Fork River” concoction is in order during your luxury cabin stay? Our friend Chris at The Liquor Station is there to help with a friendly smile and is also a great resource for information regarding local hot spots.

Stop by and say hello to the great folks at the Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce while you’re in town. They know everything about our area and have scores of brochures and Beavers Bend area information available. If Charity, Jessica or Elizabeth don’t know about it, it doesn’t exist. They’re true experts and operate the best small tourist town chamber I’ve seen.

If you’re tired after a long day of kayaking Mountain Fork River or skiing on Broken Bow Lake, schedule and appointment with our friends at Body Harmony Day Spa in Beavers Bend. Our guests love them and boast about their cleanliness and friendly personnel.

Pruett’s Grocery and Deli is a must stop while passing through town. Locals feel it rivals most grocery stores in any major city and my friends give it a AAAAA Star Rating for sandwiches and box lunches.

Visit McCurtain County has a new website and they hit a grand slam! If you’re looking for a luxury cabin in Beavers Bend, this is a great resource.

I’ll have a “Part II” feature about my Broken Bow cabin area favorites coming soon. Enjoy your Spring Break in Beavers Bend and give us a shout on Twitter (@BeaversBend), we want to hear about your trip!
