Winter In Beavers Bend

Winter in Beavers Bend

Winter in Beavers Bend is amazing and so are the views from Mountain Vista’s deck!

When the foliage falls in Broken Bow, our views get even better. Each season is truly special near Beavers Bend State Park. We love winter at Mountain Vista. We enjoy the fire pit and hiking the acreage surrounding Mountain Vista and the David Boren Hiking Trail.

When considering a luxury cabin rental in Beavers Bend State Park, make sure you validate a few things before booking.

Winter in Beavers Bend

  1. Seclusion: Many cabin pictures are posted online promoting Beavers Bend and everything it has to offer. Often beautiful pics are posted without indicating there are other cabins only feet away. This is one of the two biggest complaints we hear from people visiting other cabins in the area.
  2. Add-On Fees: Don’t pay for them. Take you business elsewhere. We received a call last week from someone telling us another cabin company wanted to charge big bucks for a little firewood. This is ridiculous. If there are guest-gouging charges from a cabin company…punt them. S’mores fees, cleaning fees, resort fees, restocking fees, firewood fees…the list goes on and on. A clever new add-on fee name pops up frequently in Beavers Bend. Some cabin companies are charging $40-$100 for s’mores and firewood. They’re always free at Mountain Vista!
  3. Owner Involvement: If owners are highly involved in the cabin you’re renting in Beavers Bend, that’s good. Absentee owners almost always indicate a drop in cabin amenities. Most cabin companies don’t care. They want you booked, then out the door. If you’ve chosen one of 30-50 cabins on a website, you’re just a number. You’ll notice if the cabin owners are highly involved within 60 seconds after opening the cabin’s front door. There’s a difference between staying at a vacation home versus a rental cabin.
  4. References: Our references are easy to find. We’ve enjoyed yet another successful year of great guests at Mountain Vista. Checkout our references and compare.

New Add-On Fees In Beavers Bend

New add on fees in Beavers Bend

Mountain Vista

There are new add-on fees in Beavers Bend being charged by some luxury cabin companies. “Incidental Fees” and “Property Damage Protection Fees.”

Nifty names, huh? I’m not sure what they mean, but I have a feeling someone saw these charges on their hotel bill and thought, “This is a great way to get more money out of our guests who are already paying several hundred dollars per night!”

Hey, if you agree to pay these ridiculous guest-gouging charges let me know.  I’ll have a great deal on some oceanfront property in Arizona for you!

New add-on fees in Beavers Bend

Firewood fees continue to be prevalent in Beavers Bend…but not with us. It’s always free at Mountain Vista. Many are charging $75-$100 for a few sticks of wood. Depending on which luxury cabin you rent, you could be burning lots of money while keeping the fire burning.

Fall foliage season is only weeks away and we have no weekends available in October. Only one weekend is available in November. We have a few weekdays available both months so check our calendar and reserve Mountain Vista. Our peak foliage dates will be gone soon.

Fall has arrived in Beavers Bend and although the forecast looks warm over the next few days, chilly nights and crisp mornings will soon greet you in the Kiamichi Mountains. The Broken Bow Lake area is spectacular during autumn and you should take the Talimena Drive when visiting the area.

Remember to do your homework when choosing a luxury cabin near Broken Bow Lake and Beavers Bend State Park. There are many great cabins in the area. Unfortunately, only a few won’t charge you add-on fees.

We always provide free s’mores kits, Starbucks and firewood. Our staff always makes sure there is an ample supply of Bed Bath and Beyond products throughout the cabin. You’ll never pay cleaning or insurance charges at Mountain Vista.

New add-on fees in Beavers Bend

We’ve developed a “niche market” by not charging add-on fees. Our guests love it. More importantly, they love this view! We’re only a few weeks away from this kaleidoscope of colors being visible at Mountain Vista.

Follow us on Facebook and Twitter and we hope you will experience Mountain Vista soon!

Beavers Bend BBQ Tip

Beavers Bend BBQ Tip

Looking for a Beavers Bend BBQ tip? We love Shady Oaks Restaurant near the Beavers Bend State Park exit.

I’ve written about them several times. Their omelets are great at breakfast and their burgers are the best in the Kiamichi Mountains. I branched out and tried something new recently and it was fantastic!

Get the BBQ sandwich! It’s awesome and they definitely don’t skimp on the portion. I prefer my BBQ sauce to have a little more kick but nevertheless, it was a tremendous lunch. I’ve truly never had a bad meal at Shady Oaks and I’ll order this again in the future.

They also feature ribs that I can’t wait to try.  Don’t bypass Shady Oaks thinking it’s just a little hole-in-the-wall. It’s clean and the staff is friendly. This little gem is a favorite spot for many locals.

Try my Beavers Bend BBQ tip on your next trip to Broken Bow and let me know what you think!

Choosing The Perfect Beavers Bend Cabin

Choosing the perfect Beavers Bend cabin

Choosing the perfect Beavers Bend cabin  for your vacation near Broken Bow Lake cabin be an arduous task. There are around 1,000 cabins in our area and viewing websites, studying terms and conditions and looking for hidden fees takes considerable time.

A large cabin management company touting 30-40 cabins may be unable to provide the personal touches you should expect when spending $300-$400/night. How could they? They are extremely busy juggling scores of cabins and reservation requests.

One of the biggest compliments we receive from guests is we usually answer the phone live. We also return texts and phone calls promptly. This is simply “Business 101” but I am amazed how people fail to do this in all walks of life.

Choosing the perfect Beavers Bend cabin

Our 10lb Champion Show Dog Guarding The Property!

Look for references when searching for a luxury cabin in Broken Bow. We are fortunate that many public figures have offered to lend their name to Mountain Vista’s credibility. Television anchors, CEO’s, politicians and even a rock star have helped promote Mountain Vista through the years. Maybe we should not include the “politicians!”

After reviewing many cabin websites it will be easy to notice a few “tricks of the trade” some companies use. Look for “tight shot” cabin pics with no view of the surrounding acreage. This is nearly always a red flag. They do not want you to know there is another cabin a few feet away. Another concern should be if you see no pictures of a view…this usually means there is not one.

Even if there is a picture of a great view on a cabin website, be cautious. We had another cabin management company using our 20-mile view on their website for two years. They simply took our picture from Google Images and plagiarized.

When you pay for an upscale cabin in Beavers Bend State Park you should expect a view of serenity…not one of another cabin.

Choosing the perfect Beavers Bend cabin

Mountain Vista’s View

Make a list of the top 5-10 things you want in a luxury cabin. A view, seclusion, pool and shuffleboard tables, etc. If the latter two are important, stay in the city and visit an arcade! Save your money.

There are many great luxury cabins in Beavers Bend State Park. We enjoy referring people to other cabins on our recommended list if Mountain Vista is already booked. Do your homework, ask questions and look for hidden fees. Charges for cleaning, s’mores, firewood and resort fees will suddenly become “unhidden” once you receive the bill.

Contact us at 405-535-8055 or at BeaversBendVacations.com if we can help you enjoy our fabulous 20-mile view at Mountain Vista!

The Perry’s Return To Mountain Vista

The Perry's Return To Mountain Vista

The “Meet Our Beavers Bend Guests” series continues… He rules the radio airwaves with a sharp wit, loyal following and great sports knowledge. She patrols the streets helping people while looking for the bad guys.

We’re very fortunate to have guests that stay at Mountain Vista annually and many visit several times each year. T.J., Katie and Bronx Perry of Norman, OK have been high atop our VIP guest list for years.

Mountain Vista has become an annual home away from home for the Perry’s over the past several years. They’ve visited Mountain Vista numerous times and we’re honored they continue choosing our cabin for rest and relaxation in Beavers Bend State Park.

“Mountain vista cabin feels like home. We never feel like we are staying at someone else’s place. The view is amazing and there’s nothing better than cooking out and having dinner on the balcony. We also love the drive from Norman to the cabin. I enjoy driving through small towns and seeing different areas of the state,” T.J. said.

Katie is a Norman, OK police officer and felt a calling to serve others which led to a career in law enforcement.

“I love helping the community and knowing each day I can make a difference in someone’s life. It’s a tough job and some days are rough. The hardest part is dealing with calls that involve children or a domestic situation. Even though some situations are hard, you have to remain positive and know you’re helping. Even in situations where they may think they don’t need your assistance,” she said.

T.J. is a highly successful radio host in the Oklahoma City market on SportsTalk1400. He co-hosts the  statewide “T-Row In The Morning Show” with the Voice of the Oklahoma Sooners, Toby Rowland. Toby has also visited Mountain Vista.

“I always wanted to work in radio. I grew up around music, talk radio, and sports and knew radio gave me the chance to be around all three of those. I love how spontaneous radio is. From day-to-day I never know what we’re going to get into or where the show may go. My main job each morning is to make one person laugh or make their day better in some way. Many people aren’t morning people or they’re stuck in traffic or maybe just having a bad day. If I can take their mind of the worries of their day or job then I’ve done my job,” T.J said.

This highly popular statewide show has been a favorite of Oklahoman’s for over a decade. Mix their sports knowledge, humor and tremendous ability to ad-lib while sprinkled with scores of zany callers and you have the perfect recipe for great radio.

The Perry's return to Mountain Vista

Thanks to T.J., Katie and Bronx for making Mountain Vista their annual Beavers Bend luxury cabin destination!
