Get a cabin with outstanding views: They’re often difficult to find, but relaxing on a cabin deck with a nice bottle of wine is the perfect way to end a day near Broken Bow Lake.
Arrive on a Sunday-Monday: It’s less crowded and many times you can virtually have the area to yourself. Often cabins will have good deals on weekdays.
Don’t pay for firewood: It’s inexpensive for us to provide firewood to guests at Mountain Vista. Many cabins charge over $100 for add-on fees like firewood and s’mores. Don’t do it.
Wear bright colors when hiking in deer season: Be cognizant of the hunting season when jaunting through the woods.
Take The Talimena Scenic Drive: This is a must every October-November.
Play Cedar Creek Golf Course: Tourists love the course and can’t believe how beautiful and inexpensive it is.
Book A Fishing Guide: Bryce Archey is our “Go To Guide” on Broken Bow Lake. Autumn is one of the best times of the year for area angling. Bryce and I often have “Fish & Stay” Packages in conjunction with Mountain Vista Cabin.

There’s a new winery in Beavers Bend, courtesy of a long-time family friend.

Vojai’s Winery opened a few weeks ago and I received the grand tour from their wonderful staff and owner, Vojai Reed.

Vojai is a long-time fixture and business leader in the Beavers Bend State Park area. She also had a monumental career in professional fishing.

The beautiful building has an outdoor seating area, tasting room and gift shop. If you can’t find a great Beavers Bend souvenir gift here, you’re not trying!

Vojai’s Winery features a variety of wines that are made in-house.

Vojai and my late mother were local television stars in southeastern Oklahoma during the early 1980’s. KLOP Television developed a cable station that provided local sports, news and variety shows in McCurtain County. It was very forward thinking and the mastermind of prominent businessman, Jewel B. Callaham.

My mother and Vojai hosted a 30-minute cooking show that became the talk of the town. As I recall, the great looking meals they prepared always seemed to look better on television than when mom tried to replicate them at home!

We only have a few more weekends open through the summer at Mountain Vista cabin. Make your reservations now and don’t wait until the last-minute to book holiday dates.

I enjoyed visiting with Vojai and learning about her fantastic new winery. Their staff is tremendous and I give them five-stars for customer service. They even have plans for expansion to their spacious new facility in Beavers Bend.

The winery business is booming in Beavers Bend with Girls Gone Wine, Vojai’s Winery and another new one, Fish Tale Winery and Vineyards. I also toured Fish Tale last week and will have a feature on them soon.

Beavers Bend Cabins Safety Tips

Since warmer weather has arrived near Beavers Bend State Park, tourists and locals have been flocking to Cedar Creek Golf Course and enjoying a jaunt on the beautiful waters of Broken Bow Lake and Mountain Fork River. Always follow these Beavers Bend cabins safety tips below.

If you need your boat serviced while in town, we recommend our lifelong friends at Broadway Boats in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. They also own Bruton’s Outdoors in downtown Broken Bow. If you’re a shop till you drop kind of person, check them out when visiting our area. You’ll need hiking boots upon arrival in our Kiamichi Mountains and they have an amazing selection. They’re great people and offer fantastic deals. Bruton’s Outdoors even feature the old-fashioned sidewalk sales that we love. Sherri recently picked up a pink “cammo hat” that she adores! It looks great on her, I’m the “regular cammo type!”

We’ve had lots of great feedback regarding the “Meet our Beavers Bend Guests” series we began this year on the blog. People visiting the cabin feel a connection with previous guests at Mountain Vista and enjoy reading their chronicles in our guestbook. We have a few additional features “in the can” (as we used to say in the television business) for the future. Each of our guests have a unique story to share…How they heard about Mountain Vista, what brought them here, what they did while touring our area and their thoughts upon departure. I need to tell more of their tremendous stories.

The hot temperatures will soon arrive for guests of Beavers Bend luxury cabins and that means you need to take a few precautions. Insect repellent, water and sports drinks are a few of the “musts’ when visiting Broken Bow Lake cabins during the summer. The older I get, the more I understand the importance of proper hydration…Make sure you’re being smart, using sunscreen and don’t push it too hard in the heat. The summer months can be very humid in the Kiamichi Mountains and the heat can creep up on you quickly. Bring a big, big hat!
