Beavers Bend Cabin Chef Bailey McCullough Delighting Tourists

Tourists love being pampered and hiring a personal chef is one of the hottest trends in Beavers Bend. Chef Bailey McCullough, the right-hand man for Food Network Champion Chef Tabb Singleton, is a big hit in Broken Bow. He’ll titillate your tastebuds and teach you how to become a better cuisine expert.

Chef McCullough is a native of Southeastern Oklahoma and honed his skills at restaurants in New Orleans. He works with the legendary Tabb Singleton at Phatt Tabb’s BBQ in Idabel, OK and his cabin catering business is flourishing.

A scrumptious lobster tom yum course for my friends Scott and Kandyce Mitchell at Mountain Vista Cabin led Scott to text me, “He’s a genius!” Chef McCullough can create a plethora of menu items while staying at a luxury cabin in Broken Bow.

“The beautiful setting and Bailey’s artisan cuisine made the pics,” Kandyce said.

Chef McCullough enjoys engaging with tourists when cooking at cabins.

“I feel it’s one of the most important parts of the experience. The interaction, all the questions…it really makes a fun experience for the guest and me. I send guests a brief description of what I’ll be cooking and I love the shock and awe on their faces when it’s presented to them!”

Summer Update

Summer Update

We’re rolling through the summer at Mountain Vista and swamped with bookings. Only July 11-14 and 17-20 remain open this month.

Guests checked out today and sent us this note:

“Oh my gosh, I honestly can’t tell you how amazing it was and how much fun the kids had! Thank you very much for all the preparation that obviously goes on to ensure that we had a great time!”

We’re fortunate to have earned a loyal following and great visitors for years at Mountain Vista. Our top guest in 2015 stayed with us six times…they’re big-time fans!

No weekends are open at Mountain Vista in July and only two are available in August.

October is a perfect time to visit Beavers Bend cabins and enjoy the famous fall foliage season. Only two weekends remain open…it’s a very popular month.

The Talimena Drive should be on your must-do list when visiting Broken Bow in the fall. It’s convenient for OKC visitors visiting our area. Head to Sallisaw and down to Broken Bow.

The drive is stunning…

The winding roads provide picturesque views of Southeastern Oklahoma. There are plenty of  fantastic spots to pullover for photo-ops.

Download our Beavers Bend app for links to our blog and VIP Beavers Bend cabin offers.

Thanks to @TheRustieNail for including us in their latest blog, “Travel Guide to Broken Bow Oklahoma! We’re thrilled they had an enjoyable trip to Beavers Bend and grateful for being their featured cabin recommendation.

When you stay at Mountain Vista there are never add-on charges for insurance, cleaning, firewood, s’mores kits or resort fees. We’re an upper-end luxury cabin in Beavers Bend State Park with a stunning 20-mile view.

Summer Update

Scores of cabins continue to pop up, only for rental purposes. Mountain Vista isn’t simply a rental…it’s our vacation home. Sherri and I invite you to visit soon!

5 Things To Never Pay For In Beavers Bend

5 Things To Never Pay For In Beavers Bend

There are 5 things to never pay for in Beavers Bend when staying at a luxury cabin rental.

2016 has arrived and it is time to plan your cabin getaway to Broken Bow, OK. There are a few things to consider while researching top cabins in Beavers Bend. New add-on fees keep popping up with many cabin management companies.

Never pay…

Firewood Fees: We left free firewood for our New Year’s Eve guests and they appreciated it so much they sent us this picture around the campfire. Many other cabin management companies will charge you over $100 for a few sticks of wood. It’s on the house at Mountain Vista. Our guests knew how to build a nice fire!

5 things to never pay for in Beavers Bend

Cleaning Fees: This add-on fee began about a year ago in Beavers Bend. Scores of cabin management companies are now charging $70-$100 extra in order for their maids to mop. If you pay this fee, you deserve to be “taken to the cleaners!”

Resort Fees: One of the most clever add-on fees to hit the Broken Bow luxury cabin market in years. I’m still not sure what it means, but there’s no need to pay this.

Restocking Fees: Another cleverly coined fee. Everyone must “restock” their cabins. We don’t charge you for this one either. Ask your cabin management company “What’s the difference between a resort and restocking fee?”

5 things to never pay for in Beavers Bend

S’mores Fees: We provide free s’mores kits to all guests staying at Mountain Vista. Others charge you $50-$100 for a couple of sticks and a bag of generic marshmallows.

Insurance Fees: This “gotcha charge” began in Beavers Bend a few years ago. Countless management companies are trying to play State Farm Insurance agents when you book a cabin in Broken Bow. Like a good neighbor, we were the first to write about this fee years ago. Do the math and you’ll realize it’s a bad deal for you and a great one for them.

There will undoubtedly be more add-on fees in Beavers Bend in 2016. Never with us…Hopefully, the next up-charge won’t result in a guy wearing a trench coat visiting your cabin and asking, “Hey, want to buy a watch?”

Reserve your holiday and peak dates soon at Mountain Vista. Our calendar begins to quickly fill during the next few weeks. Our winter special continues through February…Arrive on Sunday-Tuesday and receive a 20% discount.

Remember to do your homework before reserving a luxury cabin. Take into account these 5 things you should never pay for in Beavers Bend.

Winter is wonderful at Mountain Vista! Contact us at 405-535-8055 or reserve online to experience our 20-mile view of serenity. One thing you won’t experience is add-on fees!

Best Breakfast In Beavers Bend

Best Breakfast In Beavers Bend

If you want the best breakfast in Beavers Bend, visit Shady Oaks Restaurant across from the Beavers Bend State Park exit on Highway 259 North.

I stop there frequently and recently needed a quick bite of breakfast before heading out of town from our Mountain Vista luxury cabin. Their egg, cheese and ham omelette was amazing!

Best Breakfast In Beavers Bend

The Shady Oaks friendly staff is always courteous and they draw big crowds for breakfast, lunch and dinner for a good reason…They have outstanding food!

We also gave Shady Oaks the Best Burgers in Beavers Bend award earlier this year. They’re on a roll! We appreciate their quality and attention to detail. If you’re looking for down home cooking while visiting a luxury cabin in Broken Bow, OK, check them out! Many of our cabin visitors have dined with them upon our recommendation and all have reported having an outstanding experience.

Fall foliage season is just around the corner in Beavers Bend State Park and we have a limited number of dates available. Remember to take the Talimena Drive when visiting the Broken Bow Lake area. It’s an easy jaunt and will offer breathtaking views of the wonderful autumn foliage in our area.

Nestled among towering pines, our Mountain Vista luxury cabin is a popular destination for those seeking a premiere upscale getaway. Many Beavers Bend visitors have thanked us for educating them on how to rent a luxury cabin in Beavers Bend. Remember, never pay additional fees for cleaning, insurance, firewood or resort charges. The resort charge is a new guest gouging tactic and we’re not really sure what it means.

We never charge any of these add-on fees. The firewood, plus additional amenities are always “on the house” at Mountain Vista!

Beavers Bend Boating & Coffee House

Beavers Bend Boating & Coffee HouseBeavers Bend Boating & Coffee House

Broken Bow Lake luxury cabin visitors now have more options for entertainment and a hot cup of Java when visiting Kiamichi Country. A Beavers Bend boating and coffee house has now opened in our area.

I stopped in and visited the friendly staff at Adam & Eve’s Coffee House, Cafe & General Store today. I’m told that’s their real names…Adam & Eve! Unfortunately, they weren’t in while I visited their store.

I was very impressed with the outgoing staff and their sandwich/coffee bar is clean, well organized and a welcome addition to Beavers Bend State Park. Numerous customers were enjoying the food and free Wi-Fi service while I roamed the store. They have a convenient location, across the street from the Beavers Bend State Park turnoff on Highway 259 North.

I hope to meet the Hochatown Adventures staff soon. They’re offering a much needed service to the Broken Bow Lake area. Many of our guests at Mountain Vista have inquired about boat rides through the years. You’re missing out if you don’t hop aboard a boat on Broken Bow Lake! Don’t just settle for the road views of Broken Bow Lake.  Explore it, especially the upper north end. It’s breathtaking.

July 4th Beavers Bend Cabin Tips

July 4th Beavers Bend CabinsI

If you’re looking for July 4th Beavers Bend cabin tips at Broken Bow Lake, elite accommodations are limited by this time of the year. Our holiday bookings are reserved months in advance.

Several potential Beavers Bend State Park visitors will surely cancel their reservations before Independence Day. We once had a tree trimmer scheduled to arrive July 4th…He had an accident, fell out of a tree and nearly died. Needless to say, he couldn’t make it to Mountain Vista the next day! We’re happy to report he’s doing well now but it’s a perfect example that cancellations do happen…here are a few tips to possibly land the luxury Oklahoma cabin of your dreams during peak and holiday dates in the heavily visited Kiamichi Mountain region.

1. Ask to be placed on a  waiting list with a Broken Bow cabin company. If they don’t have one, give them a few demerit points and take your business elsewhere. All reputable property management organizations should have a waiting list for potential guests. We do. Contact us at 405-535-8055 or email [email protected] and we’ll gladly add you to the list in case we have a cancellation.

2. Keep checking cabin website availability calendars. Ours is updated several times daily and if a guest has an emergency cancellation, we announce it to the world on social media and our Beavers Bend app.

3. Get on a luxury cabin newsletter mailing list. If your favorite cabin company isn’t communicating and keeping in touch with you regarding promotions and VIP special offers, find another one!

Our spring and summer dates are filling fast. The next opening at Mountain Vista is June 1-4 and we don’t have a weekend available until August. Remember to book early for weekends and holidays in Beavers Bend! These peak dates are highly sought after and each year we get many phone calls and emails from people wishing they’d have reserved their July 4th Beavers Bend cabin earlier in the year.

Take a hike, play a round of golf, float Mountain Fork River or hire a fishing guide to help you land the big trout and bass that are plentiful in our area. There’s many activities  to enjoy here but remember to relax and enjoy the views and fresh air. There’s a reason two-million tourists flock to our area annually…the scenery is breathtaking here. Especially from our deck at Mountain Vista!

Beavers Bend Mountain Vista CabinViews

Follow these July 4th Beavers Bend cabin tips and be persistent. Hopefully you’ll be boating across Broken Bow Lake on Independence Day rather than barbecuing in your backyard!
