Beavers Bend’s Grand Champion Show Dog

We’ve been in the dog show world over 20 years and love it. American Kennel Club (AKC) Dog shows are a great place to learn about different breeds. That’s how we broke into this crazy game.

Sherri and I attended a dog show and were hooked. We’ve been blessed with world-class show dogs for decades. Kula is named after a little town in Upcounty Maui where we were married many years ago.

Beavers Bend Weekend Activities

Beavers Bend Weekend Activities

If you’re looking for weekend Beavers Bend activities during dreary weather, we have a few tips.

Sherri and I enjoyed a weekend at Mountain Vista decorating the cabin and visiting our favorite hot spots. If you encounter frigid weather and the lake or river isn’t calling your name, follow our lead…

Beavers Bend Weekend Activities

We visited the great people at Mountain Man Meat Market and had their amazing seafood gumbo special. If you like friendly people and world-class gourmet meats, you’ll love this new Beavers Bend business.

No morning is complete in Beavers Bend without stopping by Adam & Eve’s Coffee House. Owner, Pam Jackson, is constantly adding healthy dining options and her gift shop continues to expand. We almost bought her entire inventory of locally made soaps!

Our favorite place in Beavers Bend is always hanging out with our friends at Moon Tower Bar and Grill. Chef Tabb Singleton, a two-time Food Network Champion, is always there to greet us with a smile and world-class cuisine. The chicken and dumplings were tremendous!

Beavers Bend Weekend Activities

We’re offering Beavers Bend fans a 20% discount on weekdays in January at Mountain Vista. The winter months are a perfect time to visit Broken Bow while enjoying our fire pit and hot tub. Firewood is always free along with s’mores kits and other upscale amenities.

You’ll never pay resort fees or incur additional add-on charges at Mountain Vista. Many cabins gouge guests with an additional 10% or more…not us!

Another year of Christmas decorating is in the books at Mountain Vista in Broken Bow. It’s a special time for us annually. Our vacation home awaits wonderful guests during the holiday season.

Enjoy your Beavers Bend weekend activities and make sure to visit Mountain Man Meat Market, Moon Tower Bar and Grill and Adam and Eve’s.

Remember, there’s always something to do near Beavers Bend State Park…even in frigid weather.

Beavers Bend’s Favorite Show Dog Wins

CH GCH Hilltop's Time For Kula To Fly & Sherri Isbell

CH GCH Hilltop’s Time For Kula To Fly & Sherri Isbell

Beavers Bend’s most famous show dog finished this weekend’s AKC dog show in Chickasha, OK with two Best of Breed victories!

As many of you know, we’ve been in the dog show world for two decades. When we’re not hanging out in Beavers Bend, we’re probably at a dog show with “Kula,” our six-year old Brussels Griffon.

If you’re considering a new dog, AKC dog shows are a great place to learn about different breeds from the experts. That’s how we got started 20 years ago.

Many of our Mountain Vista fans are from DFW and I’d recommend attending the Lone Star Classic December 8-11 at the Dallas Market Mall. It’s a huge show with well over 1,000 dogs.

We currently have rare openings in mid-December at Mountain Vista and 2017 reservations are already occurring. It’s very important to make your 2017 holiday and spring break bookings soon.

Happy Thanksgiving from Jerry, Sherri and Kula!

OKC Dog Show Win

Ch. Hilltop’s Time For Kula To Fly

Sherri led our Champion Brussels Griffon to a great victory yesterday at the OKC Summer Classic Dog Show.

“Kula” was named “Grand Champion Select” and Best in Breed Owner/Handler. He’s been on a hot streak over the past couple of months!

The show continues through June 28th. If you’ve never been to an AKC dog show it’s a great experience. Over 1,400 dogs are entered this week and it’s always fun to see the smiles on people’s faces who experience this event for the first time.

If you want to smile this weekend, come see man’s best friend!

Great Weekend At OKC Toy Dog Show

Sherri and I had a great weekend at the Oklahoma City Toy Dog Show. If you’ve been a visitor to Mountain Vista cabin in Beavers Bend, it’s easy to figure out we love dog shows. There’s usually several show dog magazines located throughout the cabin. We love educating people about this great sport.

We’ve been involved in the American Kennel Club (AKC) dog show world for about 20 years. Initially with boxers and now with our pride and joy, “Kula”,  a Champion Brussels Griffon. He’s one spoiled little guy and loves being the center of attention at shows.

Great Weekend at OKC Toy Dog Show

He was nationally ranked in his breed last year and will soon be again after this weekend’s performance. He earned two Grand Champion Select awards and will be competing next at the Oklahoma City Summer Classic show in June. The OKC Classic is the sixth-largest show in the United States and “Kula” had a few stellar days at the show last year.

Great Weekend At OKC Toy Dog Show

AKC dog shows are a great way to learn about various breeds. Many people attend these shows to gather information about their next pet or show dog from the professionals. You can walk backstage at shows and approach handlers as they’re grooming dogs for the ring.

Dog show people are usually very approachable backstage. Engaging handlers just as they’re about to enter the ring isn’t a good idea. That’s when it’s “showtime”.  They’re scouting the competition, analyzing the judge and making sure their dog is mentally prepared.

Sherri has handled “Kula” in the ring during every winning point on the way to his championship. He’s now only five-points away from being crowned a Grand Champion.

Summer dates are going fast at Mountain Vista, especially in July. Limited weekdays remain open in June.

Look for us at a dog show near you soon…we’d love to meet you!
