July 4th Beavers Bend Cabin Tips

July 4th Beavers Bend CabinsI

If you’re looking for July 4th Beavers Bend cabin tips at Broken Bow Lake, elite accommodations are limited by this time of the year. Our holiday bookings are reserved months in advance.

Several potential Beavers Bend State Park visitors will surely cancel their reservations before Independence Day. We once had a tree trimmer scheduled to arrive July 4th…He had an accident, fell out of a tree and nearly died. Needless to say, he couldn’t make it to Mountain Vista the next day! We’re happy to report he’s doing well now but it’s a perfect example that cancellations do happen…here are a few tips to possibly land the luxury Oklahoma cabin of your dreams during peak and holiday dates in the heavily visited Kiamichi Mountain region.

1. Ask to be placed on a  waiting list with a Broken Bow cabin company. If they don’t have one, give them a few demerit points and take your business elsewhere. All reputable property management organizations should have a waiting list for potential guests. We do. Contact us at 405-535-8055 or email [email protected] and we’ll gladly add you to the list in case we have a cancellation.

2. Keep checking cabin website availability calendars. Ours is updated several times daily and if a guest has an emergency cancellation, we announce it to the world on social media and our Beavers Bend app.

3. Get on a luxury cabin newsletter mailing list. If your favorite cabin company isn’t communicating and keeping in touch with you regarding promotions and VIP special offers, find another one!

Our spring and summer dates are filling fast. The next opening at Mountain Vista is June 1-4 and we don’t have a weekend available until August. Remember to book early for weekends and holidays in Beavers Bend! These peak dates are highly sought after and each year we get many phone calls and emails from people wishing they’d have reserved their July 4th Beavers Bend cabin earlier in the year.

Take a hike, play a round of golf, float Mountain Fork River or hire a fishing guide to help you land the big trout and bass that are plentiful in our area. There’s many activities  to enjoy here but remember to relax and enjoy the views and fresh air. There’s a reason two-million tourists flock to our area annually…the scenery is breathtaking here. Especially from our deck at Mountain Vista!

Beavers Bend Cabins Safety Tips

Since warmer weather has arrived near Beavers Bend State Park, tourists and locals have been flocking to Cedar Creek Golf Course and enjoying a jaunt on the beautiful waters of Broken Bow Lake and Mountain Fork River. Always follow these Beavers Bend cabins safety tips below.

If you need your boat serviced while in town, we recommend our lifelong friends at Broadway Boats in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. They also own Bruton’s Outdoors in downtown Broken Bow. If you’re a shop till you drop kind of person, check them out when visiting our area. You’ll need hiking boots upon arrival in our Kiamichi Mountains and they have an amazing selection. They’re great people and offer fantastic deals. Bruton’s Outdoors even feature the old-fashioned sidewalk sales that we love. Sherri recently picked up a pink “cammo hat” that she adores! It looks great on her, I’m the “regular cammo type!”

We’ve had lots of great feedback regarding the “Meet our Beavers Bend Guests” series we began this year on the blog. People visiting the cabin feel a connection with previous guests at Mountain Vista and enjoy reading their chronicles in our guestbook. We have a few additional features “in the can” (as we used to say in the television business) for the future. Each of our guests have a unique story to share…How they heard about Mountain Vista, what brought them here, what they did while touring our area and their thoughts upon departure. I need to tell more of their tremendous stories.

The hot temperatures will soon arrive for guests of Beavers Bend luxury cabins and that means you need to take a few precautions. Insect repellent, water and sports drinks are a few of the “musts’ when visiting Broken Bow Lake cabins during the summer. The older I get, the more I understand the importance of proper hydration…Make sure you’re being smart, using sunscreen and don’t push it too hard in the heat. The summer months can be very humid in the Kiamichi Mountains and the heat can creep up on you quickly. Bring a big, big hat!

Take care of yourself, friends and family when visiting our area with the heat on the way. Our app has emergency phone numbers  listed to help you in case an unexpected situation arises.

Stay and play in Beavers Bend State Park soon! We can answer most of your questions regarding tourism in the Broken Bow Lake area. Call us at 405-535-8055 or visit our website at BeaversBendVacations.com. We have no weekends available until August but several weekdays are still open.

Remember, we never charge for firewood or add bogus charges to your bankroll like extra insurance. Be smart when choosing your luxury cabin in Broken Bow. Our area is the most beautiful real estate in the ArkLaTex…Come enjoy it with us!

Beavers Bend Cabin Reviews

Beavers Bend Cabin Reviews

We’re fortunate to have many great Beavers Bend cabin reviews. Our guests enjoy our views and the extra little touches we provide for our visitors. Here’s a recent pic of our deck view at Mountain Vista Cabin in Beavers Bend and notes from a couple of our guests over the past few weeks. We still find it hilarious, yet amazingly unethical, that another cabin company in Broken Bow is using our view on their website to market cabins. We’ve mentioned it a few times on social media and our blog here, but have yet to reveal their website. We may…Many visitors to Beavers Bend cabin websites have noticed too…they’ve told us!

Should we spill the beans and expose unethical business behavior or let it ride? Let us know your thoughts. Our last question on any business or marketing decision is always “Is this the right thing?” The marketing and ethical landscape has certainly changed recently for several Beavers Bend cabin companies. Many don’t tell you there’ s another cabin only yards away and others say their place comfortably sleeps 12 when truly, it’s only six. They never say “Hey, we’re close to a noisy road, come visit us!” Some outfits are juggling 25-50 cabins, and trying to rent them with the cheapest marketing tactics and low-budget technology possible. They steal our highly marketed 20 mile-view pictures, slap it on their website and “Shazam”…”We’ve got views like this too!” Don’t fall for it.

Beavers Bend Cabin Reviews

We’ve taken an aggressive approach this year to educate Beavers Bend and Broken Bow Lake cabin visitors on the tricks of the trade some use to get your reservation…Firewood charges, ridiculous incidental fees, extra cleaning bills and anything possible to choke out your credit card.  If you’re speaking with someone who is taking calls a cabin agency trying to rent scores of cabins…Good luck, you may need it!

Beavers Bend Cabin Reviews

If you’re a high-end luxury cabin owner in Beavers Bend and would like to have professionally produced video tours, like ours, to market your property , let us know. If you’d like to take the next step with technology and jump aboard our tourist app we created that thousands enjoy, we’d like to visit with you. Have you been with the same cabin company for quite awhile and they’re not producing great content for your property, but still collecting 30-45% fees? We can take your media and marketing to an entirely new level. Google “Mountain Vista Cabin Beavers Bend.” You’ll see.

Remember, just because someone puts something on a website, that doesn’t mean it’ll really be there upon your arrival at a Broken Bow Lake cabin. No matter where you see our view on other cabin company websites, don’t let them fool you.

There’s only one, Mountain Vista View!

Contact us at 405-535-8055 or email [email protected] if you are interested in luxury cabin media, marketing and management or just a relaxing stay at our vacation home. Visit our website at www.BeaversBendVacations.com.

KSLA News Anchor Doug Warner Visits Beavers Bend Cabins

Doug Warner

KSLA News

Broken Bow Lake cabins have approximately two-million annual visitors and we’ve had many outstanding guests through the years at Mountain Vista cabin in Beavers Bend. The series featuring our past VIP guests in McCurtain County continues…Shreveport and Texarkana media markets along with surrounding areas will certainly recognize this gentleman.

ArkLaTex television viewers invite him into their homes each morning and the popular news anchor thrives on keeping his audience informed, breaking stories and even weather chasing. When he’s off camera, Shreveport television anchor Doug Warner enjoys relaxing at Broken Bow Lake and visiting our Mountain Vista cabin in Beavers Bend.

Doug was a stellar anchor/reporter and popular figure in the Oklahoma City television market for many years. He returned to his home state of Louisiana a few years ago and has taken KSLA Television in Shreveport to an entirely new level. Doug has been a friend for years and I’ve always been impressed with his attention to detail and accurate reporting. Most importantly, he’s a darned good guy!

Doug Warner KSLA News

Beavers Bend Luxury Cabins

Doug and his wife Libby, pictured above on our Mountain Vista deck, enjoy the Broken Bow Lake area. “When are we going back? My beautiful bride hasn’t stopped asking that question since our final glance out of our window as we pulled away. Beautiful. Very private. And a high end way to spend a weekend in a gorgeous part of Oklahoma. A great and quick getaway for us coming from Shreveport/Bossier in Louisiana,” Doug said.

Doug is a tireless philanthropist and has raised an enormous amount of money for many years by donating his time and visibility to scores of charities. He continues to do great volunteer work in the ArkLaTex since his move to KSLA News. Doug still returns to Oklahoma City annually for worthy causes, including a popular event with actor Doug Harmon and many other celebrities benefitting children with disabilities in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma City media’s loss was certainly a gain for the ArkLaTex television viewers. Thanks to Doug and Libby Warner for making Mountain Vista their favorite cabin in Beavers Bend! Contact us at 405-535-8055 if we can assist you in planning a cabin getaway to the Broken Bow Lake area.

Beavers Bend Cabins Spring Break Update

CabinSpringFlowers

Oklahoma Spring Break Update: We currently have several dates open. It won’t be long until the colors on our property at Mountain Vista cabin become vibrant!

Texas Spring Break Update: Very few days remain available. Check our calendar and book online or give us a call if you have any questions about the area, where to eat, what to do etc. Our phones are always available.

Book your stay at Mountain Vista soon. We really begin getting busy with lots of reservations during February. The phones and email begin blowing up once March arrives. Plan early so you’ll have a secluded cabin rather than something that’s not top of the line.

Restaurant Recommendation: We had a recent guest rave about Papa Poblano’s Mexican restaurant in Broken Bow. They planned a three-night stay but enjoyed our view so much, they added an extra night once they arrived to our property. You may want to check Papa’s out when visiting our area. I’m not a huge Mexican food fan, but have eaten there several times and the service and food have been fantastic. It’s very popular with the locals and tourists. When Sherri and I entertain guests at Mountain Vista, we often get takeout at Papa’s and take it back to the cabin.

Choctaw Casino in Broken Bow: Many of our Texas guests visit the casino when staying at our cabin. There’s no slots in the Lone Star State and if you’re feeling lucky, check them out! They usually have live music on weekends and my experience with all their facilities across the state is they’re first-class, very clean and they always go beyond the call of duty to offer a tremendous guest experience.

Contact us at [email protected] or 405-535-8055 if we can help you with your next trip to McCurtain County. If you’ve never been here before, you don’t know what you’re missing! Remember to compare cabins, locations, proximity to other cabins and most importantly, the view. Sherri and I invite you to visit Mountain Vista soon!

Beavers Bend Cabin Guests Have Spoken… Guest Book Three On The Way!

photo

It’s time for Guest Book three. Two books are just about full. Tons of great stories in the first two editions from our Mountain Vista visitors. One of the most prevalent themes is sadness upon leaving…They want to stay just one day longer! Our guests tell us they love reading the stories of those who enjoyed Beavers Bend before them. Many times, they know prior guests…It’s a small world!

We always write the first post in each new book. One cold December night a couple of years ago,  Sherri and I sat by the fireplace and started reflecting about what has made this place so special. We still read the notes immediately after walking through the Mountain Vista door. They always put a smile on our faces. This was our intro to Guest Book two.

“Mountain Vista Cabin has come a long way since the day we drove up the hill, heard the wind piercing through the towering pines and were captivated with the view. We truly knew at that point this was the place to build! Opening the guestbook is the first thing we do after unlocking the door to our vacation home. The comments are a validation that dreams can come true. We’re blessed to have numerous guests experience Mountain Vista several times each year. We’ve heard a plethora of touching stories about this place…

Buried within these four walls are tales of love, laughter, solace and even a party or two! We’ve hosted those welcoming new babies, newly created marriages and sadly, several who enjoyed it here knowing their last days on earth were numbered. This cabin has become much more than just a getaway. Beavers Bend, Broken Bow Lake and our guests have become syncopated with our heartbeats. To this day, we still get excited driving up the hill knowing our dream is just around the slight left curve. It’s our hope you’ll say “It’s been worth it” after taking in the sunset or enjoying a cup of coffee on the deck in the morning. You may also be amazed at the wildlife in this peaceful setting.

Our hope is that you learn to see something even more amazing and have a greater love for each other, nature and serenity. When the time comes to say “Goodbye Mountain Vista,” our prayer is your visit will cause things to never be the same. They’ll be better because these woods and walls have blessed you as much as they have us. Whether it’s a jaunt through the forest or an embrace with a loved one, there’s usually a moment when our guests say “I’ve got it” and fully understand the “Mountain Vista Experience.” Your experience begins now…make the most of it!”

Meet Our Beavers Bend Cabin Guests: Author & Legend Media Producers Founder, Kurt Boxdorfer

Screen shot 2014-01-18 at 5.57.19 PM

He’s the person behind the lens and our Mountain Vista producer/photographer extraordinaire. A 30-year media veteran and author of a new book that’ll help you with presentations, speeches and public appearances. Meet our pal and fan of Beavers Bend State Park and Broken Bow Lake, Kurt Boxdorfer, founder of Legend Media Producers in Dallas.

Kurt, along with his wife Jeri and son, visit Mountain Vista regularly and love everything our area has to offer. “It’s always something we look forward to, knowing we’re going to be on our way to the Beavers Bend area of southeast Oklahoma. Coming from the Dallas area, seeing all the trees and climbing up the big hills always seems to heighten our excitement. And of course, with our son it’s a minute-by-minute countdown until we pull up the awesome driveway that fronts Mountain Vista. The cabin is more like a castle to us. We’re not used to the huge picture windows, the views or the trees being so close! You can reach over the wrap-around porch railing and just touch them depending on what season you go. We’re either out by the fire pit our first evening, inside by the fireplace or just relaxing and talking on the porch or in the hot tub. The night sky is pretty awesome too – you don’t get the glare of the city lights like you do in Dallas. It reminds me of the two times I was out in the Arizona desert for work – your mouth just hangs open the first time you look up,” he said.

Screen shot 2014-01-15 at 8.00.19 AMHaving a critical eye for what it takes to be perfect in front of the camera, Kurt had an epiphany to write a book and coach people to success in the public arena. The Inside-Out Speaker: Untold Truths and Strategies On How to Be a Better Speaker, is a behind the lens perspective for struggling professional speakers who want to save, strengthen and grow their speaking business. It’s rooted in my experiences in production, having worked with hundreds of speakers, some very good and some not so good. 30 years doing TV shows, corporate events and commercial projects – all help me understand what it takes to give a prolific presentation.

As I’ve gotten older, I find I really like to teach and mentor people. Writing the book and now getting it out there for everyone that needs it, is a way for me to do that. I know the information is important and needed by speakers. I get the satisfaction of knowing that I could undertake and complete something I’d never done before – write a book – and I can also feel good about helping people – friends, clients and even strangers, that need it,” Kurt said.

8135_1234094093374_1259821207_719649_5904557_n

I’ve been fortunate to work on numerous media projects with Kurt over the past few years and have always been amazed at his company’s ability to adapt to new technologies. “What’s been happening the last ten to fifteen years is a rapid convergence and acceptance of the new digital technologies. It’s a great thing for consumers, both young and old. Think about it, the encyclopedias of old – that information can now be immediately digitally accessed by all of us. We can learn so much easier and faster than before. In the world of visual media, the biggest change is in accessibility. Everyone’s a videographer or photographer now because of advances in technology. Miniaturization, the increase in transportable bandwidth and the fact that we’re now a global economy have brought to the masses what used to be reserved for the select few,” he said.

The Boxdorfer family has visited Beavers Bend and Broken Bow Lake during many different seasons and their typical day at Mountain Vista includes checking out all the hot spots. “We’re usually out the door by mid-morning on our way to swim, float, canoe or kayak the crystal clear waters of the Lower Mountain Fork River, fish on Broken Bow Lake, rent an ATV, play golf or miniature golf, cruise through the Forest Heritage Center and gift shop, ride the train or horses at the Beavers Bend Depot & Stables, feed the animals at the Honey Bear Ranch, paddleboat (which is great fun by they way!) or hike the many nature trails in the park. If you look closely, you’ll probably see some deer. We were able to get really close to them on our last trip,” Kurt said.  Whew, that’s a full day!

Be sure and pick up Kurt’s book on Amazon. If you need video production or photography, he’s the best in the business. We owe much of our success to him. Being in media, marketing and sales for over 25 years, I know the importance of great presentations and being comfortable in front of a crowd or camera. Kurt’s new book will make you better.

We’re happy Kurt and Jeri are looking forward to the next trip to our cabin in Beavers Bend; “At the end of our visit, it’s always a little sad. We know you can’t find this type of getaway just down the road. But we’ll be back, just as we have for the last five years. It never gets old,” he said.

8135_1234094053373_1259821207_719648_739875_n

Sherri and I are amazed and thankful for the tremendous, eclectic group of guests who’ve enjoyed our vacation home through the years. It’s always easy for us to “stay focused,” on our visitors, thanks to great people like Kurt and Jerri Boxdorfer.
